Scary nuns at Midsomer

Midsomer Murders – “A Sacred Trust”   Wednesday 26th October

Yes, scary nuns and a copulating couple may seem like a departure for the cosy drama, but we are soon back on familiar territory with the trusty Jones being refused entry to the priory whilst attemting to investigate a broken window (are there no other policemen in the area to deal with suspected criminal damage?).  A nun is despatched in the chicken coop and, at last, here comes Barnaby, the gorgeous Neil Dudgeon, who is donning flimsy blue plastic shoe covers as if about to watch his toddler tackle a 10metre swim.  But no, he’s garbed up to investigate the murder scene!

Then we discover that the antique silver has been lifted and there is much eyebrow twitching between the nuns about the destiny of the treasures and the future of the movement (their number having been reduced by 25%). And we have the priest, an extremely good-looking young man, in a desperately unattractive kind of way, of whom I, for one, am immediately suspicious!

A very enjoyable episode of the classy drama, and we even have Jones dressed as a nun, which, strangely, isn’t wierd at all.
